The Durham County Sheriff’s Office announced on Friday that they had arrested a “violent wanted man.”

Deputies had been searching for 47-year-old Larry Dwaine Davis from Roxboro since Sunday night. Around 11:30 p.m., deputies responded to a 911 call on Wolf Laurel Court in Rougemont about a disturbance. The caller reported that Davis, who was armed, was involved.

Deputies saw Davis, a convicted felon wanted on multiple warrants, trying to get into a car to leave. When they tried to stop him, Davis drove off but crashed a short distance away. He then ran into the woods and escaped, but deputies found a stolen .22 magnum rifle in the car.

On Friday, deputies found Davis at an office building on University Drive. The DCSO’s STRIKE Team arrested him in connection with Sunday’s incident and other outstanding warrants.

Davis was taken to the Durham County Detention Center and charged with several crimes, including assault with serious bodily injury, kidnapping, possession of a firearm by a felon, and fleeing from police. He was also charged with larceny of a firearm, assault on a female, communicating threats, and resisting an officer.

Davis is being held without bond and is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Monday.
