SALISBURY, N.C. — A child with gunshot wounds was taken to the hospital after a man was found dead from the same shooting in Salisbury on Saturday morning.
At about 5:30 a.m., Salisbury Police responded to reports of gunfire on Rowan Mill Road. They discovered an unidentified man who had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neighbor Caleb Mills said he heard 15 shots, followed by a brief pause, then four more shots. Another neighbor described the scene as sounding “like a war” and stayed low to avoid being hit.
Around the same time, a child arrived at Novant Hospital with gunshot wounds from the incident. The child was later transferred to another hospital and is in stable condition, though their injuries are serious.
No suspects have been arrested yet. Police say the incident was not random and there is no immediate threat to the community, but they advise people to stay alert.
